About the Metropolitan Police
The Metropolitan Police Service was founded in 1829 by Sir Robert Peel. At that time, it only took 1,000 officers to police a seven-mile radius from Charing Cross with a population of less than two million.
Today, the Met employs 31,141 officers, 13,661 police staff, 414 traffic wardens and 2,106 Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs). In addition, since the redrawing of police boundaries in April 2000, it covers an area of 620 square miles and a population of more than seven million.
The Met’s requirement
To provide an effective service, the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) must be able to communicate and co-ordinate all of its operations. The MPS needed to integrate all of their 32 borough control rooms, the emergency service, telephone operator centres and special events and incident support services.
These services were brought together to make the new Central Communications Command (CCC). Now the Integrated Communications Control System (ICCS) developed by Frequentis supports the new CCC function.

Playing a crucial role in the deployment stage of MPS’ ICCS, which was completed in September 2007, we are now providing fully outsourced support services for the system.
