telent chosen by A-one to keep communications network on the road
23 August, 2007
telent has been selected by A-one to provide consultancy and maintenance services to the communications network of the Highways Agency’s Area 14.
We are looking forward to working closely with A-one over the next three years, building a long-term and lasting relationship.
The three year contract with A-one Integrated Highway Services, a joint partnership between Halcrow Group Limited and Colas Limited appointed by the Highways Agency as Managing Agent Contractor (MAC) for Area 14, will see telent maintaining the communications system in an area covering over 300km of motorways and trunkroads in North Yorkshire, Durham and Northumberland.
telent will act as both managing consultant and maintainer on the contract and will be responsible for the maintenance of telephones, signal and message signs, CCTV and traffic lights across the three counties. It will also provide a 24/7 fault support service, ensuring road users are kept well informed and safe at all times.
“This contract win comes closely on the heels of our recent North West TechMAC contract award from the Highways Agency. Both contracts focus heavily on a partnership approach, something which is central to our service delivery,” comments Peter Eccleson, General Manager of Roads and Highways division at telent. “It will allow us to extend into new territories, with a new customer, and we are looking forward to working closely with A-one over the next three years, building a long-term and lasting relationship.”
Andy Jamieson, Managing Director at A-one explains:
“telent has a proven track record of providing the highest level of service and with over 30 years experience of maintaining equipment for the Highways Agency and with two TechMAC contracts already, they are the ideal choice for this project.'
“Contracting just one company will also mean that we will have only one point of contact for all work carried out, making the project more efficient and simpler to manage.”
