telent Selected to Upgrade E.ON’s Communications NetworkBacknang, Germany, 20 Feb, 2007– telent (LSE: TLNT) a leading supplier of technology services, today announced that it has been awarded the contract to upgrade the mission critical communications network for E.ON Netz GmbH, an E.ON group company. The E.ON group is one of the world’s largest energy service providers. telent will upgrade the existing SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) network to next-generation SDH systems such as OMS1664, OMS1684 and OMS840. The new network will enable E.ON to migrate its TDM-based communication traffic to Ethernet and IP-based services. The OMS-based platform enables flexible configuration, both as a cross-connect for traditional TDM services, as well as for broadband data transmission units. The network can be further upgraded to allow higher bandwidth capacity (STM-64) and WDM.
