telent and Frequentis join forces

Combined communications expertise creates powerful emergency services offering

26 April 2007 telent plc (LSE: TLNT), a leading provider of technology services, today announced an alliance with Vienna-based Frequentis, a specialist in communication and information systems for safety-critical areas. The agreement between the companies, signed today at the BAPCO conference and exhibition in London, forms the basis of a joint business development programme in the UK.

The alliance combines Frequentis’ expertise as a supplier of communication and information systems to the air traffic control, public safety, maritime and railway sectors, with telent’s experience of providing communications support services to telecommunications operators, large enterprises and public sector agencies, including the emergency services.

"Frequentis has established itself as the leading provider of solutions for Command and Control Centres and we are very pleased to be partnering with an organisation of this calibre,” said Mark Plato, CEO of telent. “Frequentis’ expertise, combined with our own extensive experience of supporting mission critical communications services, means that together we will be able to offer an unrivalled service to companies in the emergency services sector and beyond.”

Frequentis and telent have already worked together to deliver the first phase of an integrated communications control service (ICCS) for the London Metropolitan Police Service. The project has seen Frequentis act as general contractor, providing TETRA connection and CCTV integration, and telent providing outsourced support services.

"telent brings substantial experience in communications support services,” said John Gurney, Managing Director of Frequentis UK. “Together, Frequentis and telent can focus on offering highly specialised solutions and full managed services for safety critical applications and look forward to a successful future.”

About Frequentis in the UK:

Frequentis has worked in the UK market since 1992 when the contract for the equipment of the world’s largest air traffic control headquarters (NERC) was signed. Having processed a series of major contracts in both the civilian and military air traffic control areas, the subsidiary has during recent years successfully diversified into the fields of Public Safety and Transport. The efforts in the Public Safety market were crowned with success in March 2005, when Frequentis was selected by the London Metropolitan Police Service to deliver an integrated communication and CCTV technology programme. Encompassing 550 working positions at three major command centres and a large number of smaller control rooms and remotes complete with eight years’ Managed Service Support, this was the largest single system delivered in the history of Frequentis.
