Triumphant telent celebrates reaching £50,000 target for charity04 January 2008 – telent , a leading provider of technology services, today announced it has smashed the £50,000 fundraising target it set in February 2007, by raising over £68,000 for its chosen charity, the NSPCC. Over the year staff at telent sites across the UK have organised a range of activities from sponsored walks and runs, to family days, raffles and auctions. Many telent employees also contributed a percentage of their salaries to the cause through monthly salary donations. Amongst the activities was the company’s 2 nd annual Chorley Big Bike Ride. Despite the typical wet British summer, over 60 cyclists, many in fancy dress took to the streets. The superheroes , cartoon characters and ballerinas were sponsored to complete a 31 mile bike ride from the telent Chorley office to Blackpool, collecting money from spectators on the way, helping to raise £8,000. At the end of the summer, over 80 of telent’s customers and suppliers took part in a charity golf day at Lambourne Golf Course, near Slough which was followed by an evening auction. Over 30 lots were auctioned, including a signed England Rugby Shirt, a 727 flight simulator experience and a 4 ball round of golf at Wentworth, amongst others. The competition and auction raised an astounding £53,000. “We rely on the general public and companies for over 87 per cent of our funding, so we are extremely thankful to telent for its continued hard work and commitment over the last year”, comments Rosie Day, head of corporate fundraising at the NSPCC. “This is a substantial amount of money, which will help us in our aim to protect children across the UK from cruelty, and we look forward to working alongside telent in the future.” Mark Plato, telent CEO and a member of the NSPCC’s fundraising board, explains: “I am extremely proud of what we have achieved over the last year. All the fundraising activities have been really successful helping us exceed our target of £50,000. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our employees, customers and suppliers for taking part in our activities and for continuing to support this worthwhile charity.” telent continues to support the NSPCC and has pledged to raise a further £50,000 in 2008.
