telent acquires intelligent traffic systems group, TSEU

03 March 2008 – telent, a leading provider of technology services, today announced that it has acquired TSEU Group (incorporating Traffic Signals UK Limited and Microsense Systems Limited), a specialist provider of traffic control solutions and services in the urban roads market, predominately in the UK.

The acquisition is in line with telent’s strategy to grow its presence and service offering in the transportation sector, and strengthens its presence in the urban roads market. The combination of telent’s consultancy and systems integration capability and TSEU’s traffic equipment offerings and local authority customer base gives telent one of the leading positions in this market.

TSEU Group develops a range of solutions to improve the management of local authority transport infrastructure in the face of increasing traffic congestion. The company designs, installs, supports and manages traffic solutions, ranging from the design of traffic controls through to the development of traffic management software. TSEU has offices and depots across the UK and employs approximately 200 people. The company’s key customers include the local authorities of Cambridgeshire, Kent, Glasgow and civils contractors, including Amey and Carillion.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for telent”, commented Mark Plato, CEO of telent. “We already have an established relationship with the Highways Agency and have over 30 years’ experience of providing integrated services and solutions to customers in the UK road industry. The acquisition of TSEU Group will help us to further extend our experience and knowledge beyond the motorway network and into the cities, where we see growth opportunities driven by the need for electronic tolling and intelligent traffic information and management.”

telent Limited supplies a broad range of communications support services to telecommunications operators, as well as to large enterprises and government agencies in the UK and Germany, leveraging its accumulated knowledge of customers’ networks, its expert field force, its scale and reputation for quality.
