Broadband network roll-out
Customer: BSkyB
telent is supporting roll-out of network operator’s BSkyB’s broadband service in the UK, Easynet, under a contract awarded in 2006. Over 1,300 sites have already been delivered and end-to-end roll-out and maintenance will continue through fiscal year 2008. telent has recently expanded its role to include roll-out of Ethernet services directly to customers, as well as the provision of uninterrupted power supply to further enhance BSkyB’s network reliability.

Strategic partner for access equipment vendors
Customer: Huawei
telent was awarded a five-year framework contract in May 2007 to marshal, install and commission services on behalf of Chinese access equipment provider, Huawei, as part of BT’s 21st Century Network Transformation project. telent is also working closely on 21CN with another of BT’s three selected equipment vendors, Ericsson.

Support and services from core network to customer premises
Customer: COLT
telent is planning, installation and maintenance of customer communications systems in the UK and Germany on behalf of COLT under two multi-million, 3 year contracts awarded in 2007. COLT is a leading supplier of data, voice and managed services to businesses and governments, and telent employs engineers from COLT’s existing staff alongside its own field engineers under the agreements signed. The combined workforce plans, installs, supports and maintains customer communication systems across a multitude of networking platforms including IP, Ethernet and SDH.

Cabling services
Customer: BT
Our cable services frame contract with BT was renewed for a further four years in mid-2004. The contract, estimated by the operator to be worth around £360 million over the four years, covers civil engineering, pole renewal and underground cabling works in BT's East Midlands, Eastern, Outer London and Inner London regions.

Renewal and maintenance of rail communications infrastructure
Customer: Network Rail
Under a five-year £15 million framework contract signed with Network Rail in 2005, telent is supplying equipment and services for the renewal and maintenance of the rail operator’s communications infrastructure in Anglia and the South East. telent is responsible for identifying communications requirements, developing an asset renewal strategy and carrying out installation, testing, commissioning and ongoing maintenance. This will ensure that Network Rail drives asset improvements, whilst delivering better train service performance and reducing costs.

Improving communications infrastructure on the Underground
Customer: Tube Lines
A 13-year, £150-million contract with Tube Lines was signed in 2005 to upgrade and maintain the communications infrastructure on the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines of the London Underground. The contract covers a number of communications systems, including the station communication and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, as well as CCTV and security systems, public address systems, customer help points and visual information displays. telent is also providing software for a central management system which will monitor other station assets, such as lifts and ventilation systems. The contract is provided through our joint venture with Amey Infrastructure Services. 
Customer: Alstom
telent was also awarded a 5-year extension of its existing maintenance contract for the Northern Line from Alstom in 2007. Under the contract, we are providing pro-active maintenance on train-to-track CCTV, train and station radio and data systems, logistics management and asset monitoring.

Maintenance of train stations & control rooms
Customer: South West Trains
telent was awarded its first contract directly by a train operator in September 2007. Under the 3-year contract, we are maintaining and supporting South West Trains’ stations and control rooms.

Motorway maintenance
Customer: Highways Agency
telent was awarded in 2004 the first ever Technology Maintaining Agency Contract (TechMAC) from the Highways Agency for a duration up to six years. The contract covers maintenance and management of all motorway and trunk road communications, including signalling, across the Midlands region of England on a 24 hour, 365-day basis. In November 2006, telent announced the award of a further five-year TechMAC contract for the North West region.

Robust and reliable communications networks for UK Firelink programme
Customer: 02 Airwave
telent was awarded a £13 million 10-year contract in September 2006 to support O2 Airwave’s deployment of its Airwave Communications System as part of the National Firelink Programme. The roll-out will enable Fire and Rescue Services in the UK to use the new Tetra Radio Communications Service provided by O2 Airwave. telent is installing equipment in all fire appliances throughout the UK and then providing a complete support service, once they are operational. This helps O2 Airwave deliver a highly robust and reliable communication network.

Design, build, maintenance for FiReControl project
Customer: EADS
Integrated Communications and Control services
Customer: Metropolitan Police
telent is providing maintenance and support for an integrated communications and control service for the Metropolitan police and Frequentis GmbH, under a multi-million 8-year contract awarded in early 2007. The system will play a critical role in the police service’s control rooms. telent has entered into an alliance agreement with Frequentis, a leading supplier of command and control centers for safety-critical environments, to jointly develop business opportunities in this segment both in the UK and in Germany.

Critical Communications network upgrade
Customer: E.ON, Germany
Under a contract awarded in early 2007, telent is upgrading a mission critical communications network for E.ON Netz GmbH, an E.ON group company and one of the world’s largest energy service providers. The new network will enable E.ON to migrate its TDM-based communication traffic to Ethernet and IP-based services.

Wireline and Wireless transmission solutions
Customer: Deutsche Bahn
In 2006, telent signed a 3-year extension of an existing framework contract for the delivery, installation and commissioning of wireline and wireless transmission solutions to German national railways operator, Deutsche Bahn. telent was awarded two additional contracts by Deutsche Bahn for regional signalling projects during fiscal year 2007.
